Former UNC football quarterback Mitch Trubisky is in his first year with the Pittsburgh Steelers after signing a deal as a free agent in the offseason following a few years in Chicago and then one in Buffalo.
Trubisky is looking to find long-term success in Pittsburgh despite the team drafting Kenny Pickett in the first round. And already, he’s making a quick impression.
Just hours before he was named the starting quarterback, the Steelers named Trubisky one of their captains as well. It’s a strong statement for the quarterback to not only be named as the starter but a captain as well, signaling that his teammates and coaching staff believe in him.

The Steelers will host the Patriots in Week 1 as Trubisky will battle Mac Jones in the matchup of starting quarterbacks.
Let’s hope Trubisky gets off to a really good start and doesn’t have to worry about being benched this year with Pickett and Mason Rudolph behind him.
