Jaxson Dart and Michael Trigg created highlight films in Ole Miss season opener

#USC fans are pulling for Jaxson Dart and Michael Trigg to succeed under Lane Kiffin at #OleMiss. Saturday provided a few notable highlights.

Former USC Trojan Jaxson Dart made his Ole Miss debut on Saturday, helping the Rebels grab a 28-10 win over Troy in the season opener for both schools.

The Utah native and Gatorade and Max Preps 2020 National Player of The Year (Corner Canyon, Utah) got the start. He threw for 154 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Dart also ran for 40 yards more before giving way late to Luke Altmyer, whom Dart edged out in fall camp.

Dart also connected with former Trojan tight end Michael Trigg. Number 0 had four catches for 33 yards in the win versus Troy. He was targeted seven times, so it’s clear Dart is looking for his teammate, who accompanied him from Los Angeles to Oxford.

It wasn’t a hugely explosive opener for Dart, but that was to be expected given the transition of schools and the process of absorbing a new playbook. Ole Miss doesn’t have to hit full throttle on offense just yet. There is plenty of time to settle into the season and gain a greater comfort level.

Dart seems to be enjoying his time in Oxford so far. He is soaking it all in.

“I’ve never experienced anything like that,” Dart said. “It was definitely really neat and an experience I’ll never forget. I’m really looking forward because I hear it only gets better.”

Ole Miss will have another warmup game versus Central Arkansas at home before the big road matchup in Atlanta against Georgia Tech. Altmyer and Dart should settle the score in Kiffin’s offense, and coach Kiff should have a permanent starter by then.
