It was an impressive and gutsy performance from Rutgers football, who scored a touchdown on their second-to-last possession for a 22-21 win at Boston College.
Rutgers (1-0, 0-0 Big Ten) hosts Wagner next Saturday.
Rutgers was down 14-6 at halftime, a 26-yard touchdown run from Aron Cruickshank on a reverse getting the Scarlet Knights on the board.
In the second half, Rutgers cut into Boston College’s lead to make it a 14-12 game after Kyle Monangai’s one-yard run with 13:03 left in the third quarter. Monangai, who started with Avery Young out injured, had a strong game. They then pulled ahead late in the fourth quarter when Al-Shadee Salaam ran 23 yards, the punctuation point on a 12-play, 96-yard drive for Rutgers.
