Andy Enfield brings Russian big man Iaroslav Niagu to USC

We interrupt our coverage of #USC and Pac-12 football to bring you this noteworthy basketball story.

The USC Trojans are gearing up for the new football regime as Lincoln Riley is set to coach his first game in L.A.

However, the basketball team continues to make moves as Andy Enfield aims for another strong run in the 2022-2023 season.

According to Travis Branham of 247Sports, the Trojans got a late commit from Russian big man Iaroslac Niagu.

Niagu will join the Trojans for the upcoming season after playing basketball at Canberra (AUS) NBA Global Academy. The 7-foot-1, 215-pound big man is another big get for Enfield’s team and there should be a role for Niagu right away.

Here’s what Branham wrote about Niagu:

He measured in at 6-foot-11 without shoes but 7-foot-1 with shoes and possessed a near 9-foot-2 standing reach and through six games, he averaged 8.7 points and 5.3 rebounds.

Niagu is a big post prospect with a large and lean frame that will continue to fill out well when he gets inside the USC weight room. While he weighs just 215-pounds right now, he is strong and isn’t afraid of playing physical around the rim.

The absence of Isaiah Mobley, who joined his brother, Evan, on the Cleveland Cavaliers, gave USC a need for a big man. So, enter Niagu. Enfield adds another interesting piece to the roster.
