Florida football announces LSU Tigers game sell out

The Florida Gators vs LSU Tigers game on October 15 is officially sold out, according to the University of Florida’s ticket office.

The Florida Gators ticket office announced yesterday that the LSU game on October 15 is officially sold out. This is the second game of the 2022 season that has sold out, joining Saturday’s season opener against the No. 7 ranked Utah Utes.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the game. Both teams have first-year head coaches looking to appease fan bases with high expectations. Notably, LSU chose former Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly over Billy Napier, who was coaching in Laffayette just an hour west of Baton Rouge on I-10. The Gators have played the Tigers every year since 1971, with LSU currently on a three-game win streak.

Animosity has been simmering between the two programs for a while but spiked in 2016 when the two programs got into a spat over the location of the annual contest. Hurricane Matthew postponed the game from October to November and turned a Florida home game into an LSU home game. Florida won that game 16-10. It was the first matchup between the two that took place outside October since 1984. Florida leads the all-time series by a hair at 33-32-3.

The Orange and Blue have had four sell-outs since 2018: LSU (2018), Auburn (2019), Alabama (2019), and FSU (2021). The 2019 Alabama game was the only loss from that list.
