Ravens reportedly release OL Tyre Phillips

The Ravens released offensive lineman Tyre Phillips on Wednesday

The Baltimore Ravens had to get their roster to 53 players by Tuesday at 4pm. In doing so, the team had to figure out which players to keep and what positions to prioritize as they made tough decisions. However, just because their roster was trimmed to 53 players doesn’t mean that it’s set in stone.

On Wednesday, Ian Rapoport reported that Baltimore released third-year guard Tyre Phillips. The move comes as quite a surprise, especially considering that the versatile lineman was in the competition for the starting left guard job just a few short weeks ago.

Phillips was a third-round pick of the Ravens in the 2022 draft out of Mississippi State, playing primarily at tackle. Many projected the offensive lineman to move inside and play guard, but Baltimore used him all around the offensive line, including at tackle. He fared much better on the interior than on the outside, and now is looking for a new NFL home after starting in 13 of the 22 games he played in a Ravens’ uniform.
