Jaguars claimed former Packers LB Ty Summers

The Jaguars, with top waiver priority, claimed former Packers LB Ty Summers off of waivers on Wednesday.

Linebacker Ty Summers, who was released by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, was claimed off of waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Summers, a seventh-round pick of the Packers in 2019, played three seasons in Green Bay, mostly on special teams.

The Jaguars had the top waiver wire priority after posting the NFL’s worst record in 2021, meaning Jacksonville had the first opportunity to claim Summers.

In addition to claiming Summers, the Jaguars claimed four other players, including former Wisconsin receiver Kendric Pryor. However, Summers was the only player released by the Packers to be claimed by a team on Wednesday.

The Packers did not claim a player on waivers.

This is the third transaction involving the Packers and Jaguars this month. The Jaguars traded a draft pick to the Packers for offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen, and the Packers are signing former Jaguars safety and special teamer Rudy Ford.
