Bucs waive WR Tyler Johnson

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are waiving wide receiver Tyler Johnson

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have their first surprise cut of the season.

Wide receiver Tyler Johnson is being waived, per The Athletic’s Greg Auman.

A fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft out of Minnesota, Johnson has shown flashes of potential over the past two seasons, but has also been inconsistent. He did lead the Bucs in both catches and yards this preseason, and also had a strong training camp.

He’ll obviously be a strong candidate to return on the Bucs’ practice squad, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see another team grab him off waivers.
