Hogwarts Legacy Collector’s Edition is pricy, and fans aren’t happy

The open-world RPG Hogwarts Legacy has some expensive premium edition trinkets that aren’t actually magic. A crying shame, that.

Well ahead of Hogwarts Legacy‘s launch early next year, developer Avalanche Software released an unboxing video for the Collector’s Edition on Tuesday. It’s full of nifty do-dads from the wizarding world, but fans are too keen on the pricing.

In terms of physical contents, the Hogwarts Legacy Collector’s Edition comes with a decorated display box, steelbook case, and an ultra gaudy magic wand that floats on top of a massive tomb. Of course, it’ll come with the Deluxe version of Hogwarts Legacy, which contains in-game ‘Dark Arts’ costumes and a Threstral mount. Check out the official unboxing video below to see everything.

If it looks appealing, pre-orders for Hogwarts Legacy go live on Aug. 25, 2022, at 8:00 A.M. PDT // 11:00 A.M. EDT // 3:00 P.M. GMT at most outlets. It won’t be cheap, though.

According to GamesRadar, the Hogwarts Legacy Collector’s Edition costs around $300 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

There was some confusion after Australian retailer EB Games briefly listed the price at $500 AUS ($350 USD), but it seems it’ll be slightly cheaper. As you probably expect, fans are not happy about it.

It’s all slightly confusing since none of the official brand accounts for Hogwarts Legacy have confirmed pricing details in each region. However, that information will be publicly available once pre-orders open.

At least Hogwarts Legacy won’t have any microtransactions, if nothing else. The PS5 version is getting some platform-exclusive features too.
