Panthers waiving LB Khalan Tolson

Per Heavy’s Matt Lombardo, the Panthers are waiving LB/Latrell Spencer impersonator Khalan Tolson.

The second wave of this summer’s cuts will come crashing down for the Carolina Panthers and the rest of the league these next two days. Teams must trim their rosters of five more players—in getting from 85 guys to 80—by Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline.

According to Heavy NFL senior reporter Matt Lombardo, the Panthers have begun by waiving linebacker Khalan Tolson.

Tolson joined the organization back on April 30, as an undrafted rookie out of the University of Illinois. He played four seasons as a member of the Fighting Illini—amassing 128 total tackles (10.0 for a loss), 2.5 sacks, five passes defensed, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

The six-foot, 220-pound backer rose to a tiny bit of Twitter fame following training camp, when the Panthers’ 2022 edition of “Camp Confidential” revealed that he graced teammates with his best impression of Latrell Spencer.

When he wasn’t showing off his dance moves this preseason, Tolson recorded five tackles over his pair of exhibition appearances.
