From the moment the Boston Celtics drafted him, veteran point guard Marcus Smart had an All-Star floor general ahead of him in the team’s backcourt rotation. He was shunted over to play shooting guard despite having run the point his entire career at Oklahoma State.
First Rajon Rondo, then Isaiah Thomas, followed by Kyrie Irving, and then Kemba Walker, Smart was kept from primary point duties by worthy names. When he got his chance, he became one of the best floor generals in the league last season on the way to leading the Celtics two wins short of an NBA title. His passing chops were very much an important part of what got Boston so far.
The NBA took note, and put together a highlight clip of some of Smart’s best passes from last season.
