The Green Bay Packers have claimed wide receiver Travis Fulgham, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. Fulgham was cut by the Denver Broncos on Tuesday and now finds himself back in Green Bay. He was a member of the Packers for nine days during training camp in 2020.
Fulgham was claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles less than a week later and went on to have his best season to date. He had an impressive five-game stretch in which he collected 29 catches for 435 yards and four touchdowns. His 539 receiving yards in 13 games were a team high.
In 2021, the Eagles waived Fulgham when making their final roster cuts. He was signed to the practice squad the next day, only to get released in October. He was briefly a member of the Miami Dolphins practice squad before signing with the Broncos at the tail of the regular season. Prior to his release from Denver, Fulgham caught one pass for 11 yards in their preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
At 6-2 and 211 pounds, Fulgham was originally selected by the Detroit Lions in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL draft out of Old Dominion. He has a solid blend of size and speed but has failed to stick to an NFL roster.
Earlier Wednesday, Green Bay waived wide receiver Malik Taylor, but Fulgham still faces an uphill battle to make the final roster. His best bet will be to show out in the last two preseason games while carving out a role on special teams.
The Packers needed depth at receiver with Taylor released, Danny Davis now injured and Christian Watson still working his way back from a knee injury.
