It seems someone over at Amazon made a whoopsie, listing the launch for New Tales from the Borderlands well ahead of any official announcement.
On Wednesday, an Amazon store page went up for New Tales from the Borderlands, revealing a release date of Oct. 21, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The actual listing was already taken down, but not before Fanbyte snatched up the official story synopsis.
“Take a stand against ruthless corporate overlords in this narrative-driven adventure! Within the perpetually war-torn metropolis of Promethea, you’ll control Anu, Octavio, and Fran on the worst day of their lives,” reads the description. “Help these three lovable losers as they endeavor to change the world (and maybe even save it)! Face down a planetary invasion, vicious vault monster, and cold-hearted capitalist in this cinematic thrill ride where what happens next is up to you!”

Curiously, this seems to confirm the sequel isn’t a direct follow-up to Tales from the Borderlands. Aside from the same characters, it’ll apparently be a new plotline altogether. The first game came out so long ago that this might be a smart move.
Developer Gearbox Software announced this project in April before it was even called New Tales from the Borderlands. Sadly, Telltale Games and the original team aren’t returning for this sequel.
