The Jets already know quarterback Zach Wilson will be out for a little while after suffering a bone bruise in his knee and a torn meniscus in the preseason opener on Friday night. The estimated timetable is 2-4 weeks, but Wilson still needs surgery to repair his meniscus tear.
Coach Robert Saleh told reporters after Sunday’s practice that Wilson is on his way to Los Angeles where he’ll have arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday. The Jets don’t know exactly how long Wilson will be out, but the procedure will give them more clarity based on how it goes.

In Wilson’s place, Joe Flacco got first-team reps in practice on Sunday and could get more playing time in the preseason – unless the Jets want to play it safe and keep their backup quarterback out of harm’s way.
There’s still a chance Wilson will be back for the start of the regular season, which is about a month away.
