With the announcement the NBA will retire the No. 6 number throughout the league to honor Bill Russell, who recently passed away, all eyes shifted to Jaylin Williams in Oklahoma City.
The Thunder rookie forward will be the last player in franchise history to sport the No. 6. Williams was selected 34th overall in the second round of the 2022 NBA draft. The NBA grandfathered all players who currently wear the number.
Other players to wear the number since the team relocated to Oklahoma City were Hamidou Diallo, Gabriel Deck, Eric Maynor, Derek Fisher, Randy Foye, Steve Novak, Semaj Christon and Melvin Frazier Jr.
