Former UNC baseball pitcher Daniel Bard is a hot name as the MLB trade deadline approaches, with multiple teams reported to be interested.

Former UNC baseball player [autotag]Daniel Bard[/autotag] is in the midst of a terrific season for the Colorado Rockies and could be an interesting name around the MLB trade deadline.

With the trade deadline approaching on Aug. 2, multiple teams are reported to have interest in the 37-year-old pitcher.

Bard joined the Rockies back in 2017 after a short retirement and has now blossomed into great form. Bard has 21 saves and a career-best 1.91 era this season in 37 appearances.

He has spent the past three years with the Rockies and has seen basically half of his saves over that span come this year.

Bard was selected in the first round of the 2006 MLB draft by the Boston Red Sox. While Bard didn’t make the NL All-Star roster this year, he is clearly someone that teams recognize as a potential asset as the playoff push begins for numerous organizations.

With just a few days before the deadline, this is one Tar Heel to follow.
