We’ve been here before with Tyreek Hill and his new quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.
Remember when the Miami Dolphins shared a video of Hill catching a very wobbly and not-very-deep ball from Tagovailoa, which totally backfired? Hill responded on Twitter and everyone rolled their eyes.
Well, now Hill is out here on First Take casually declaring that Tagovailoa is “the most accurate quarterback in the NFL.” And I see lots of tweets crossing my timeline that are mostly along the lines of: “WHAAAAAAAAAT?”
Here’s the thing, and you should remember it throughout August as we get a better look at Tua to Tyreek: What other choice does he have?

Hill is the one who forced a trade out of Kansas City. He knew what he was getting into in Miami. And now that he’s there, his job is to pump up a quarterback who is not, in fact, the most accurate QB in the league.
Tyreek Hill just called Tua Tagovailoa the most "accurate QB in the NFL"
Tua is in the running but not the "most accurate." His 67.8% ranked 7th.

It’s in his best interest to back up Tagovailoa and to get it into his quarterback’s head that he’s better than we think — and considering how inconsistent the QB has been in his brief NFL career, that’s the right move. The last think the Fins need in an intriguing season on paper is for their new top receiver and the guy they’re leaning on as the starter to have any kind of conflict.
There’s also a slight chance that maybe Hill knows something we don’t, right?
So: Talking him up is a brilliant strategy. And maybe it’ll work in 2022.
