The Los Angeles Lakers’ big trade chip right now is Russell Westbrook – or at least that’s what they’re hoping.
The market for him isn’t exactly great, and a rumored trade with the Brooklyn Nets involving him that would’ve landed Kyrie Irving in L.A. hasn’t happened, at least not yet.
There has reportedly been at least a bit of interest in guards Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn, but there is another backcourt player on the Lakers who is drawing interest around the NBA.
Via Lakers Daily:
“According to a recent report, young guard Austin Reaves has been getting interest from rival teams.
“‘Also, sources said that several rival teams have expressed in Austin Reaves, the shooting guard who is coming off a promising rookie season,’ Sam Amico of Hoops Wire reported.”
Reaves seems to be an ascendant prospect who has the potential to become a multi-faceted role player, so it’s understandable if L.A. is unwilling to part with him in a trade, even one that would bring it Irving.

The 24-year-old has put in lots of good work so far this offseason, as he has reportedly put on over 10 pounds of muscle.
