Former Raiders OG Richie Incognito retires from NFL

After not playing during the 2021 season, it seemed pretty likely that Richie Incognito would be retiring from the NFL. That news became official today as the former Pro Bowl guard officially hung up his cleats.

Incongito announced his retirement on Twitter, as did the team. He signed a one-day contract with a team to retire as a member of the Raiders.

Incognito signed with the Raiders in 2019 after sitting out the 2018 season. He played 14 total games with the team during the 2019 and 2020 seasons as he dealt with multiple lower-leg injuries.

Incognito had a long career in the NFL, starting 164 games for four different teams. His best stretch of play came with the Bills as he made three Pro Bowls with the team from 2015 to 2017.

There was some hope that Incognito would play last year after being on the roster all season long, but he was never able to overcome his Achilles injury. He officially retires at the age of 39 with four Pro Bowls under his belt.
