Fan finishes Elden Ring with a piano

FromSoftware probably didn’t plan for these masterful chords.

Elden Ring is notoriously difficult. Whether it’s Radahn, Dragonlord Placidusax, or Malenia, there’s no shortage of tough bosses. However, none of those hurdles prevented one fan from finishing the game with a piano.

Last week, YouTuber Omunchkin13 shared footage on Reddit of this awe-inspiring act (Thanks, Eurogamer). While the piano still plays notes, it’s primarily functioning as a controller. So don’t expect anything other than some light, off-the-cuff jazz notes. Plus, enduring FromSoftware’s latest is hard enough already! So don’t expect Eubie Blake.

Watch the clip for yourself below. As a word of warning, it contains final boss spoilers. So don’t check it out without finishing Elden Ring unless that isn’t an issue for you.

Took a lot longer than expected, but I was finally able to beat Elden Ring using a piano as a controller. from Eldenring

Omunchkin13 also released a video explaining what kind of preparation went into finishing Elden Ring this way. Essentially, he used software called Bome MIDI Translator to remap in-game actions onto a keyboard piano. Incredibly, he beat every major boss too! It took loads of practice, I imagine.

Since Elden Ring came out, fans have been coming up with absolutely absurd conditions and methods to play the game. Some highlights include banana controllers, bow-only builds, and speedrunning through in minutes. In time, there will surely be more ridiculous feats too.
