It’s been a busy month of July for the Georgia Bulldogs on the recruiting front.
There’s been commitments and there’s been decommitments, but Thursday provided arguably the biggest news of any for Kirby Smart and the Dawgs.
2024 5-star tight end Landen Thomas announced his commitment to Georgia on Thursday via his Twitter account.
Thomas ranks as the nation’s No. 1 ranked tight end in the class of 2024 and as the No. 24 overall player in the nation, per 247Sports.
Out of Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia, Thomas is a 6-foot-4, 230 pound playmaker who recorded 31 receptions for 516 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

Thomas was also considering Michigan and Florida, but ultimately decided to join a Georgia team that currently has superstars at the position in Brock Bowers, Darnell Washington, Arik Gilbert and Oscar Delp. Tight end coach Todd Hartley has proven to be worth every penny of his $650,000 salary.
“It’s just the love I was getting from the coaches, especially Coach Hartley,” Thomas told 247Sports when asked about his decision. “They use their tight ends a lot and it’s my home state … [Coach Hartley], he just shows you that he really wants you.”
Hartley reacted to the news on Thursday, referencing the Packers. That’s because the Colquitt County High School Packers have given Georgia two commitments this week in the class of 2024 in both Thomas and 4-star wide receiver Ny Carr.
