The worst fears of the Brooklyn Nets have been realized as franchise star Kevin Durant has officially requested a trade away from the Nets after what has been a very tumultuous offseason for them.
The 2021-22 season was filled with controversy for the Nets involving Kyrie Irving and his decision not to be vaccinated, Durant’s injury, the James Harden trade, and then Ben Simmons not playing for Brooklyn after the deal. The offseason then began in a tough way as it appeared that Irving wanted out and it was a circus for a bit before he opted in for the 2022-23 season.
Apparently, all of that was enough for Durant as he is now seeking a way out of Brooklyn. He has two teams at the top of his list: the Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns.
Phoenix and Miami are among two of the teams that Kevin Durant has on his wish list, sources tell ESPN, but the Nets plan to move Durant where they can get the best possible deal. With four years on his contract, there's no shortage of teams willing to unload assets for Durant.

It will be interesting to see where this goes for Durant as his future with the Nets is clearly coming to an end in the near future.
