The matchups for this year’s ACC/Big Ten Men’s Basketball Challenge have been set, and the Nittany Lions will be making their way down south for their part in the lineup. Penn State will visit Clemson on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Penn State is 11-10 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and they own more road wins than any other Big Ten program in the history of the challenge. Penn State’s all-time winning percentage (11-10, .524 win percentage) in the challenge is the second-best among Big Ten programs, trailing only Purdue (12-9, .571 win percentage).
Penn State lost in their ACC/Big Ten Challenge game last season in the Bryce Jordan Center. Penn State came up short against Miami, 63-58. Penn State did win their last challenge game on the road in 2020 with a victory at Virginia Tech, upsetting the No. 15 Hokies by 20 points in Blacksburg, 75-55.
Penn State faced Clemson in the 2005 ACC/Big Ten Challenge but came up short at home in a high-scoring contest won by the Tigers, 96-88, in Happy Valley. Clemson also won the challenge meeting with Penn State in 2022, winning 79-70 on Clemson’s campus. Clemson also won the previous season, in 2001, 79-66.
Penn State does own one win against the Tigers in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Penn State won the 1999 meeting against Clemson by a score of 85-75 in the Bryce Jordan Center. This was the first year the challenge was held.
The Big Ten has taken three straight challenges after a tie in 2018. The Big Ten is 121-144 all-time in individual matchups in the challenge.
