Earlier today, the Los Angeles Lakers, who didn’t have a pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, acquired the 35th selection from the Orlando Magic in a trade.
L.A. has now used that pick to take Max Christie, a guard out of Michigan State University.
Christie is listed at 6-foot-6 and 190 pounds, and he played one year for the Spartans before making himself eligible for the draft.
His stats don’t exactly look impressive – 9.3 points on 38.2 percent overall shooting and 31.7 percent from 3-point range in 30.8 minutes per game this season – but some feel he has potential down the road.
He has a decent outside shooting stroke, as well as adequate athleticism.

With the Lakers’ history of making the most out of second-round selections, perhaps Christie can become a useful NBA player not too long from now.
