On Thursday night the NBA will welcome in their newest draft class as the league holds the annual draft at the Barclay’s Center. But not all of the focus is on the players who will be picked.
This past week has been filled with trade rumors and one former UNC basketball standout has been the subject of some of those rumors. Guard [autotag]Coby White[/autotag] could be moved from Chicago in a deal that would package the No. 18 overall pick as well.
Both Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress and Jeremy Woo of SportsIllustrated are both reporting that the Bulls are seeking to move White in a deal before or during the draft. Here is what Givony wrote:
Rival teams say the Bulls aren’t in love with their options here, and they are open to trading the pick, potentially in a package with combo guard Coby White.
And here is what Woo wrote on the situation but does not mention White by name:
As I understand it, the Bulls have continued to engage in trade discussions surrounding this pick, with a number of teams interested in trading into the teens.
White is still on his rookie deal and has shown some upside in his game in his three-year career. However, the way Chicago is going in terms of building their roster, White just might not be a fit for those plans.
Plus, a trade just might be the best for both sides in this situation.
