Rob Gronkowski had spent his entire NFL career alongside Tom Brady, so if there was ever one person to get Gronkowski to come out of retirement (again), it would be Brady. After all, he’s done it before already.
Gronkowski announced on Tuesday that he was retiring from the NFL for a second time (he retired for the 2019 season before joining Brady in Tampa Bay). But even Gronk’s agent Drew Rosenhaus wasn’t totally certain that the future Hall of Fame tight end would stay retired this time either.
In a text to Albert Breer, Rosenhaus said that he could see Gronk answering a call from Brady to come back at some point. Well, judging from Brady’s tweet, that point is right now.

Well played, Tom.
Brady’s own retirement lasted 40 days, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see Gronk’s second retirement get cut short either. If Brady — who famously remained in a game last season just to get Gronk his $1 million bonus — truly needs his longtime teammate back for another season, there’s going to be a dialogue about it — that’s for sure.
At the very least, Brady isn’t waiting to joke about that possibility.
