Sixers star Joel Embiid ranked as 2nd-best center based on trade value

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid is ranked as the 2nd-best center in the league based on trade value.

With the offseason underway, now is the time for rankings while everybody waits to see what the Philadelphia 76ers will do to improve their roster.

Star big man Joel Embiid had one helluva season, averaging 30.6 points to lead the league in scoring. He did terrific things on the floor to help the Sixers succeed despite the adversity thrown in their way.

A list of the top 20 centers based on trade value by HoopsHype has Embiid ranked as the second-best center in the league behind Nikola Jokic. Now, don’t be alarmed. Embiid is not going anywhere, and he will be a fixture on the Sixers for quite some time — we hope — but this is a ranking based on current value.

HoopsHype on Embiid:

The two-time MVP runner-up has so much equity in Philadelphia, they probably still wouldn’t consider trading Embiid even if some of his previous injuries start resurfacing into something long-term. He would probably be a little higher on this list if not for his health history.

Speaking of trades, the Sixers have put Danny Green and the No. 23 pick in Thursday’s draft on the block as they try to put better pieces and win-now players around Embiid and James Harden. It will be interesting to see what Daryl Morey and Co. have up their sleeves as they prepare for draft night.
