The UNC basketball program waited over two months to make an offseason addition but over the weekend made a big splash in the transfer portal by adding Northwestern transfer [autotag]Pete Nance[/autotag].
Nance has one year of eligibility remaining and will be using it at North Carolina.
The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 14.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game last season. He also shot 45.2 percent from three (42-of-93).
UNC head coach Hubert Davis commented on the addition on Monday after the signing was made official.
“To complete our roster, we needed a big-time experienced player who could contribute right away,” says head coach Hubert Davis. “We found that player in Pete Nance. His character and proven ability, experience and leadership are the perfect fit to our team, program and community. I’m so thankful I will have the opportunity to coach Pete this upcoming season.”
Nance will slide into the spot held last season by Brady Manek. Nance joins Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, RJ Davis and Leaky Black who all return from North Carolina’s starting lineup.
The Tar Heels are projected by numerous outlets to be the preseason No. 1 team heading into next season.
