From a dramatic finish in Brookline at the U.S. Open, the PGA Tour now heads to Cromwell, Conn., for the 2022 Travelers Championship. TPC River Highlands plays host to this great event, one of the players’ favorites on the schedule each year.
Below, we look at the 2022 Travelers Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.
Despite being the week after the year’s third major, the Travelers Championship features a strong field. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler headlines the group of players teeing it up, along with Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Patrick Cantlay.
TPC River Highlands is one of the shortest courses on tour, so it’s not a track that requires bombs off the tee. It’s 6,852 yards and is a par 70, featuring a driveable par 4 and very reachable par 5s on both the front and back 9. It underwent a renovation in 2015, reopening before the Travelers Championship in 2016.

Rory McIlroy (+900)
I keep coming back to McIlroy week after week, but for good reason. He won the RBC Canadian Open and then finished tied for 5th at the U.S. Open, continuing his remarkably strong stretch of play despite only having 1 win to show for it this calendar year.
He’s talked about how much he loves the Travelers Championship and the layout at TPC River Highlands, which has led to a T-17, T-12 and T-11 in 3 starts here. He could ride this recent momentum to a win this week.
Patrick Cantlay (+1300)
Cantlay is another player who always seems to play well here. In the last 4 years, he hasn’t finished worse than T-15 at the Travelers Championship. On a course that emphasizes second shots, he ranks lower than I’d like in strokes gained: approach (41st), but I trust that he’ll be near the top in that category this week in Cromwell.
Cantlay didn’t light it up at The Country Club, but he was steady and improved each day (72-71-70-69) to tie for 14th. That came after a T-3 at Colonial.

Travelers Championship picks – Contenders
Brian Harman (+4000)
Harman is a horse at TPC River Highlands, with 4 top-10s in this event since 2015. He held the 54-hole lead in 2015 before being overtaken by Bubba Watson, and last year he tied for 5th. Harman faded on the weekend at the U.S. Open with rounds of 75 and 76, but he started the week with two sub-par rounds to hang near the top of the leaderboard. I love his chances to win this week.
Jason Day (+6000)
Day has played really well in Cromwell throughout his career, finishing inside the top 12 in 3 of his last 4 starts here. He’s also been playing relatively well lately, making the cut in 5 straight events and finishing in the top 15 twice in that span. He only has 1 finish better than T-10 this season, but I expect him to contend again this week, as he has in recent years.
Travelers Championship picks – Long shot
Sahith Theegala (+10000)
Theegala’s odds are surprisingly longer than expected given his recent results. He’s made the cut in 5 straight starts and in 9 of his last 10, including 4 top-25s and a pair of top-10s. Don’t lay a ton of money on him to win, but earlier this season, it seemed like he was poised to claim his 1st victory soon. This could be the week he breaks through.
