With a loss to Oklahoma, Notre Dame must beat Texas A&M for the chance to beat the Sooners twice and move onto the championship. The good news is the Irish’s pitching mostly has held steady throughout this tournament, and no one should expect anything different against the Aggies. The offense has been decent enough for them to pull off victories throughout the tournament, even timely. While merely getting on base is the biggest issue, actually putting the ball in play for hits has done a good job of masking that.
Where the Irish fail in on-base percentage, the Aggies succeed as one of the best in the country at it. Doubles and home runs surely help that cause. Pitching is a mixed back since that nice strikeout-to-walk ratio is offset somewhat by an ERA that’s close to 5. However, considering that ranking, it shows that the staff is nowhere near the worst in college baseball in that category.
