With a sizzling performance in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday night, Steph Curry has firmly cemented himself in the Finals Most Valuable Player conversation.
Curry is coming off a red-hot 43-point effort on 14-of-26 shooting from the floor with seven triples from beyond the arc in Golden State’s Game 4 victory in Boston. Along with catching fire with his jumper, the reigning Western Conference Finals MVP crashed the glass for 10 boards on Friday night at TD Garden.
Following his eruption in Game 4, Curry landed at No. 1 on NBA.com’s NBA Finals MVP Ladder.

What can we say that we haven’t already regarding Curry’s near-flawless Game 4 performance? We saw where this was headed early when the point guard nailed an early 3 that forced a Celtics timeout. That just carried over into a 14-point third quarter, then an uber-efficient final frame as Golden State embarked on a 17-3 run over the final five minutes. You could legitimately argue that Curry has already won NBA Finals MVP just four games into this series. But of course, we’ve still got to let this play out on the court as we step back into the thick of this dogfight of an NBA Finals on Monday at Chase Center.

Through four games of the NBA Finals, Curry is averaging 34.3 points on 50% shooting from the field and 49% from long distance, with 6.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and two steals in 37.1 minutes per contest.
Curry will have the chance to build on his candidacy for NBA Finals MVP on Monday against the Celtics. Game 5 is set to tip off on Monday night in San Francisco at 6 p.m. PT.
