The Arizona Cardinals could end up without defensive end J.J. Watt for a game this fall during the regular season. It would not be because of an injury, either.
Watt and his wife recently announced that they are expecting their first child.
Watt spoke to reporters after Monday’s OTA practice Monday and, according to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss, said he and Kealia, his wife are expecting a baby boy in October.
They have not yet decided on a name yet. Apparently, it is more difficult than he thought that would be.
The Cardinals will be playing in October, so, depending on when she goes into labor, it is possible that Watt could miss a game.
Being their first child, it seems like an easy decision to make for Watt.
There is no guarantee that he will miss a game. Baby boy could come during the week.
Either way, we are thrilled for the Watts. Those of us who have children know how great it can be and how special it is when you have your first one, even if it does come at a potentially inconvenient time.
