Tennessee defeats Georgia Tech and advances to a Super Regional.

For the second consecutive game, top-seeded Tennessee used a late rally to capture a victory.

The Volunteers, the No. 1 overall national seed, scored six runs in the ninth inning en route to defeating Georgia Tech, 9-6, in the Knoxville Regional final Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium before an announced crowd of 4,213.

UT (56-7) overcame a 4-0 deficit as the Yellow Jackets (36-24) scored two unearned runs in the third inning. Stephen Reid hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

The Vols, who notched its 11th consecutive victory and set a program single-season record for wins, pulled to within, 4-2. Evan Russell scored when Luc Lipcius reached base and Jordan Beck drove in a run on a groundout.

Tennessee scored again in the seventh inning when Lipscomb hit a scoring single to make it, 4-3.

The Vols scored six times in the ninth inning and tied the game when Beck hit an RBI double. Tennessee took the lead when Trey Lipscomb walked with the bases loaded.

A pinch-hit two-run single by Christian Moore extended the Vols’ advantage to 7-4.

Evan Russell hit a scoring single and Cortland Lawson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to make the score, 9-4.

The Yellow Jackets scored two runs in the ninth inning on a single by Tim Borden II.

Redmond Walsh (4-1) pitched two innings of relief. He allowed two runs, three hits and two walks, while striking out three.

Tennessee will host Notre Dame in a Super Regional.
