Recruiting season continues to roll along as the calendar flips over to a new month, and for Florida football, June represents the latest opportunity to draw the best prospects in the nation and convince them of new head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag]’s plans to rebuild a once-proud program. With visits already lined up and more still in the works, the Gators have a lot of work on their hands coming up.
Among the latest news from the recruiting front was the announcement that five-star offensive tackle [autotag]Samson Okunlola[/autotag] out of Brockton (Massachusetts) Thayer Academy whittled his list of top schools down to nine according to On3 on Thursday, which included Florida. Also named were the Oregon Ducks, Oklahoma Sooners, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Penn State Nittany Lions, Ohio State Buckeyes, Miami Hurricanes and Michigan State Spartans.
“They have two great offensive line coaches, and I love the head coach. I have built really good relationships with them,” the 6-foot-inch, 295-pound lineman told On3 in regards to the Gators.
Okunlola is the No. 31 prospect overall and the No. 3 offensive tackle nationally in the 2023 class per the 247Sports Composite, which gives him a five-star rating, while the On3 Consensus has him at No. 49 and No. 4, respectively, and a four-star rating. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has the Rutgers Scarlet Knights out front in his recruitment with a 12.9% chance of landing him.
