Bleacher Report named the best-kept secret on the Ravens’ roster

The Baltimore Ravens have been able to find multiple diamonds in the rough over the course of their franchise history. Whether it be through free agency, the draft or even by trade, Baltimore has proven that they can identify players that can make an impact despite not having “star status” at the time that they join the team.

When listing out each NFL team’s best kept secret, Maurice Moten of Bleacher Report certainly had a lot of players to choose from for the Ravens, but settled on Gus Edwards. Moten talked about Edwards’ contributions to the team, but also mentioned that with a healthy J.K. Dobbins in the fold Edwards might not be the leader in carries and touches in the Baltimore backfield.

“Mostly as the No. 2 running back over the past two years, Edwards established himself in the Ravens backfield. Last year, he may have reached career-high rushing totals as a fill-in starter for J.K. Dobbins, who also tore his ACL during the 2021 offseason…With that said, Edwards may not get a ton of praise because he’s not heavily involved in the passing game (18 receptions for 194 yards in three years). Furthermore, if healthy, Dobbins, who’s a 2020 second-rounder, will likely lead the backfield in carries and touches.”
