Nathaniel Hackett ‘so excited’ about Broncos’ 2022 schedule

“You always … circle those prime-time games, and to see all the ones that we have — it’s so exciting,” Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett said of the team’s 2022 schedule.

Denver Broncos players have frequently described new coach Nathaniel Hackett as high energy — a characteristic that fans have seen as well from the coach’s enthusiastic press conferences. So it was no surprise to hear that Hackett’s reaction to the team’s 2022 schedule was excitement.

“It was just exciting to get the schedule,” Hackett said last week. “Every year you get it [and] you’re so excited. You always go down there and try to circle those prime-time games, and to see all the ones that we have — it’s so exciting. I mean, to open up at Seattle is a great opportunity for our team to test us early. It was really cool just to see it and know that hey, this is the first year in this role.”

Following the arrival of new quarterback Russell Wilson, the NFL gave Denver five initially-scheduled prime-time games, the league max. That prime-time slate includes four nationally televised contests in the first six weeks of the season.

NFL fans will plenty plenty of looks at the Broncos this fall, starting with a “Monday Night Football” clash against the Seattle Seahawks — Wilson’s former team — in Week 1.

“It’s a really interesting game to put right there on Monday night, but I’m glad we’re doing it early,” Hackett said. “That was going to happen at some point in the season, so let’s attack it. Let’s all get into it and rally around the Broncos, and let’s get ready to go in there in a hostile environment and have a good game.”

Before the regular season fun begins in September, Denver will play three preseason contests in August, including two games at home.
