No. 1 Tennessee closed out its home portion of the regular season schedule Tuesday.
The Vols defeated Belmont, 18-0, before an announced crowd of 4,599 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
The Volunteers (46-7, 22-5 SEC) scored four runs in the first inning. Luc Lipcius had an RBI single and Drew Gilbert hit a three-run home run.
Tennessee added five runs in the second inning against the Bruins (35-18, 16-5 OVC). Lipcius and Seth Stephenson hit home runs in the frame. Trey Lipscomb and Jorel Ortega capped the inning with a two-run doubles.
The Vols recorded 17 hits in the contest.
Stephenson led Tennessee’s offense, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, four runs and two RBIs.
Christian Moore was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, two runs, a home run and a double.
Ortega also hit a home run and a double for Tennessee.
Zander Sechrist started for the Vols and pitched three innings. He surrendered one hit and struck out two.
Reliever J. D. McCracken (1-0) pitched two innings and allowed one hit en route to earning the victory.
Will Mabrey, Gavin Brasosky, Grant Cherry, Wyatt Evans, Drew Patterson and Ethan Smith also appeared in relief for the Vols.
