This Final Fantasy 9 fan remake is staggeringly beautiful

Memoria Project is reimagining a classic JRPG in stunning detail.

If you’re one of the many people who grew up loving Final Fantasy 9, then Memoria Project is worth keeping an eye on. Thankfully, doing so is easier than ever now that there’s an official Twitter account.

For those just catching up, Memoria Project is a non-playable fan remake of Final Fantasy 9. Think of it as the ultimate tribute that won’t get anyone in legal trouble. Like an art exhibit, only it’s in motion and made by games industry professionals that love the classic JRPG. Since everyone working on Memoria Project do so in their spare time, updates are a little infrequent.

However, on Monday, the team shared a new short snippet from Memoria Project to celebrate the Twitter account opening. Hopefully, this means we’ll see more of it regularly.

Yup, that’s Vivi waddling through Alexandra like the certified good boy he is. It makes me wish this were an actual remake we could play, though something similar could be coming if last fall’s big Nvidia leak is accurate.

GLHF‘s Kirk McKeand spoke with the passionate team working on Memoria Project last fall regarding its development. Everyone involved is doing it purely out of love for Final Fantasy 9, which is pretty damn impressive when you see how absurdly faithful and detailed every screenshot is.
