Former Lakers coach Frank Vogel is a candidate for Hornets coaching job

Frank Vogel, who was fired by the Lakers last month in controversial fashion, has a shot at coaching in the NBA next year.

When Frank Vogel was fired by the Los Angeles Lakers just after their final regular season game last month, some may have wondered if he would soon get another head coaching job.

Well, he has reportedly interviewed with the Charlotte Hornets for their current vacancy.

Via Lakers Daily:

“The Hornets are in the market for a new coach after they let James Borrego go following their loss to the Atlanta Hawks in the league’s play-in tournament this season.”

Charlotte has an up-and-coming young team that is centered around 20-year-old All-Star LaMelo Ball, the younger brother of former Laker Lonzo Ball, as well as forward Miles Bridges and guard Terry Rozier.

The Hornets won 43 games this season, and although they are a high-powered offensive team, defense is the bone of contention for them, as they finished 23rd in defensive rating.

If they hire Vogel, one can count on him to help fix their defensive issues, just as he did a couple of years ago for the Lakers when they hired him.

Reportedly, another former Lakers head coach, Mike D’Antoni, is the favorite to land the Charlotte coaching job.
