Manchester City unveiled a statue of Sergio Aguero on Friday, the 10-year anniversary of one of the most iconic moments in Premier League history.
Aguero’s goal deep into stoppage time against QPR saw City win the title in the most dramatic fashion possible, a moment that was enhanced by Martin Tyler’s famous “Aguerooo!” goal call.
Aguero’s goal secured City’s first league title in 44 years. The club has since gone on to win four more and sits two wins away from winning yet another title this season.
“Truthfully, it is a very beautiful thing for me, to see myself 10 years ago is very moving,” Aguero, who was forced to retire last year due to a heart condition, told City’s official website upon seeing the statue.
“In those 10 years I was able to win a lot of trophies and was able to help the club become one of the most important in the world.
“I am very grateful to the club for making this statue in recognition of my football career in Manchester. It is something very special.”
