ACC Softball Tournament: Notre Dame falls to Clemson

Tough day for the Irish as Clemson’s bats weren’t messing around.

Notre Dame’s stay in the 2022 ACC Softball Tournament wasn’t for long as the fourth seeded Irish fell to fifth seeded Clemson 7-3 in Thursday’s quarterfinal round.

ACC player of the year Karina Gaskins started the scoring with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first for Notre Dame but Alia Logoleo’s two-run home run in the top of the second quickly evened things back up.

Clemson’s bats wear too much for Notre Dame as the Tigers would hit four home runs total on the day.  Amy Pereira and Aby Viera both went yard in the fifth inning to give Clemson a 5-2 lead before Valerie Cagle joined the party in the seventh inning.

Alexis Holloway fell to 14-3 on the year for Notre Dame, allowing five runs in 4.2 innings pitched while Millie Thompson went the distance for Clemson, who now advances to take on top-seeded Virginia Tech in the tournament’s semi-finals.
