Colorado Buffaloes head coach Tad Boyle was recently named the head coach for the USA Basketball FIBA U18 team after another successful season in Boulder.
But, the Buffs’ 2022-2023 season could be a greater challenge with standout Jabari Walker reportedly set on hiring an agent and going all-in on the NBA Draft.
However, Boyle recently told Pat Rooney of BuffZone that nothing has been decided just yet, which is definitely different from the report Walker’s father gave to ESPN recently.
Here is what Boyle said (h/t BuffZone):
“Jabari and I touched base, and I think he and I are on the same page in terms of where he is. He’s going to go to the NBA combine and then he’ll come back and have feedback, and he’ll have a decision to make by June first. He’s not signed with agent. He’s keeping all his options open.”
So, according to Boyle, Walker has not signed with an agent and is keeping his college eligibility open, at least for the time being.
Earlier this week, Walker was one of the names headed to the NBA combine, which certainly bodes well for his draft stock. He was also a second-round selection in a recent mock draft from Bleacher Report.
To sum up, Walker hasn’t hired an agent, at least according to Boyle, but is headed to the NBA combine and could very well leave. It seems to be a bit confusing, but who knows, maybe there is a chance that Walker returns to the Buffs in 2022-2023 after all.
