The Philadelphia 76ers have played two games of this Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Miami Heat while missing their best player in MVP candidate Joel Embiid.
The big fella suffered an orbital fracture and a concussion in their Round 1 series with the Toronto Raptors. He took an elbow to the face by Pascal Siakam in the Game 6 clincher and the Sixers have really missed him against the Heat while everybody else has struggled without him.
As the series now shifts to Philadelphia, the hope was that Embiid could rejoin the team. However, he still has some steps to clear and, for now, the Sixers are listing him as out for Game 3. However, there is still a chance for progression and he could make his return.
The Sixers are currently listing Joel Embiid as out for Game 3, but there’s still progress that could be made to change his availability vs. Heat on Friday.

The Sixers still have a path to winning games even if Embiid doesn’t play. They had a ton of wide-open looks in both Games 1 and 2 in Miami. The key for them is to simply just start making shots. That won’t change whether Embiid plays or not.
