The Charlotte Hornets fired head coach James Borrego after a blowout loss in the play-in tournament, and a current Brooklyn Nets assistant is one of the candidates to fill the vacancy.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Hornets have received permission to interview Nets assistant coach David Vanterpool.
Vanterpool has spent one season in Brooklyn after being hired last July. Prior to his arrival, Vanterpool spent two years with the Timberwolves, and seven years with the Blazers as an assistant.
Per Shams Charania, Mike D’Antoni and current Bucks assistant Darvin Ham are considered the leading candidates for the job.
