KJ Hamler ahead of schedule in rehab from injury

KJ Hamler is already ahead of schedule from a torn ACL and working with new Broncos QB Russell Wilson

Former Penn State wide receiver [autotag]KJ Hamler[/autotag] is still working on coming back from a torn ACL suffered last season, but he appears to be ahead of schedule out in Denver. The Broncos receiver has already put in some work at Denver Broncos offseason workouts.

The ability to put in any level of work right now is important too, because the Broncos have a brand new quarterback this year with the offseason acquisition of Russell Wilson.

“I couldn’t be [more] impressed with anyone in our building than KJ Hamler,” Broncos general manager George Paton said recently, according to Broncos Wire. “Significant injury and no one fights, no one works, no one has more passion — and the fact that I saw him running routes last month at Russell’s — I mean, I know he’s doing well, I know his surgery went well. But I saw him out there and [it’s] very impressive.”

Hamler was lost for the majority of the 2021 season when he tore his ACL in a Week 3 contest, sending him to the team’s injured reserve list in late September. It was the second straight season Hamler was placed on injured reserve in his two-year career, although his rookie season ended on injured reserve toward the very end of the season.

Hamler was a second-round pick of the Broncos in the 2020 NFL draft following a solid stint at Penn State. Hamler was named second-team All-Big Ten in his final year in State College, 2019, and he handed the torch off to [autotag]Jahan Dotson[/autotag], who was just selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Washington Commanders.
