Competition brings out the best in athletes and there will be plenty of that going on at Pittsburgh Steelers training camp in July.
Ron Butler, the agent for safety Damontae Kazee, confirmed via Twitter on Monday that his client has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler first reported the news on Sunday that the Steelers were inking the veteran to a one-year contract.
Kazee, 28, led the league in interceptions (8) with the Falcons in 2018 and had 15 in five years.
Kazee brings to Pittsburgh versatility at both safety spots and slot cornerback, a talent they’ve been seeking since Mike Hilton left for Cincinnati.
The Steelers have a loaded safety room with Minkah Fitzpatrick, Tre Norwood, Miles Killebrew, and the recently re-signed Karl Joseph and Terrell Edmunds. It’s likely that Kazee and Edmunds will compete for the starting strong safety position.
