If any team has made the case in recent NBA history that building a deep foundation of good habits, strong relationships, and a championship mentality can defeat pure talent alone, it has been the Boston Celtics.
And particularly so after they sent the preseason title favorite Brooklyn Nets into their offseason with a first-round sweep that saw connected team defense and a deep roster who moved the ball — and themselves off of it — overwhelm the nuclear offensive capabilities of superstar forward Kevin Durant and star point guard Kyrie Irving in a way that has to have the rest fo the league on alert.
Former NBAer and current podcaster JJ Redick joined the crew of ESPN’s “Get Up” to talk about the sweep, as well as how those Nets stars responded to such a surprising series result.
Check out the clip embedded above to hear what they have to say.
