Lions 2022 NFL draft order and trade value chart

Detroit Lions 2022 NFL draft order and trade value chart and how it’s used by teams

The Detroit Lions hold eight picks in this week’s 2022 NFL draft. In terms of value, they own 1,207 units of draft trade capital.

It’s time once again for the annual NFL draft trade value chart, updated for 2022.

The trade values are based on the updated chart from Rich Hill, which updated the old values created by then-Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson over 30 years ago in the pre-salary cap era.

NFL teams don’t follow the chart to the exact letter of the value law. These are general guidelines that approximate what a team could expect to ask for in return for their picks, or how other teams would value a pick if offered in a deal.

As an example, the Lions traded for the slot to draft Derrick Barnes a year ago. Detroit traded No. 153 and a 2022 fourth-round pick, which turned out to be pick No. 107 overall this year. In return, the Cleveland Browns gave up No. 113 (Barnes) and No. 257 (Jermar Jefferson). Using the chart value, the Lions spent 46 units of value and got 30 in return. If the value for a future-year pick is the middle value of a round, the Lions gave up 38–a generic fourth-round pick is worth 25.
