Spring ball is going on for the Colorado Buffaloes, and things look much different than they did a few months ago.
Not only did the Buffs lose a ton of players via the transfer portal, but they also lost Carson Wells and Nate Landman to their likely destination of the NFL. On top of that, they saw a bunch of changes in the coaching staff.
The Buffs brought in Phil McGeoghan as the new wide receivers coach and then added Mike Sanford as the new offensive coordinator, as well as a number of other new faces on the sidelines.
But, with spring ball underway, Sanford opened up and said that there is a great feeling in Boulder with the staff (h/t Neill Woelk of CUBuffs.com).
“You know in a room of coaches when it feels right. There’s free flow, an interchange of ideas, there’s different backgrounds, everybody’s respectful of each other.”
That is a terrific endorsement for head coach Karl Dorrell, who is facing a huge challenge in 2022 after a disappointing campaign in 2021.
For Sanford, Boulder is his eighth stop in college football, and he is hoping he can turn around the offense that underwhelmed in 2021. It won’t be an easy task, especially with all of the changes on the roster, but Sanford is seemingly loving life in Boulder thus far, and it will be interesting to see how the new chemistry translates to success on the field.
