Tennessee increases its SEC East lead to five games with Alabama series win.

No. 1 Tennessee claimed its fifth Southeastern Conference series of the 2022 season, winning its second consecutive victory Sunday.

Tennessee defeated Alabama, 15-4, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Trey Lipscomb went went 3-for-5 and hit two home runs and added a double for the Volunteers (33-3, 14-1 SEC).

Tennessee overcame an early 1-0 deficit against the Crimson Tide (24-13, 8-7 SEC) to capture the rubber game of the three-game series.

Jorel Ortega went 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored for the Vols.

Tennessee scored four runs in the second inning before tallying three runs in the fourth.

The Vols added one run in the fifth inning, three in the fifth and four in the eighth.

Jordan Beck was 2-for-5 with a home run. He recorded two RBIs and scored two more.

Vols’ starter Drew Beam improved to 8-0, pitching 6.2 innings. He surrendered three runs and four hits, while striking out 10.

Kirby Connell, Ben Joyce, Will Mabrey and Wyatt Evans appeared in relief for Tennessee.
